The Largest Resort Casino in Reno Deploys Plasma Air Technology

Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) recently installed ionization technology to combat tobacco smoke and odor throughout the resort. The new Plasma Air smoke and odor control system is the largest ionization-based installation in northern Nevada — featuring 120 Plasma Air 50 Series ionizers. The system will neutralize the air on the gaming floor and throughout the facility. “This new system will raise the level of air quality and guest comfort throughout the resort and we are proud to work with Plasma Air to bring this new technology to the region,” says Shannon Keel, the General Manager of Grand Sierra Resort and Casino.

The Grand Sierra Resort and Casino is home to the largest casino in all of northern Nevada. With a gaming floor of over 80,000 square feet, the casino offers slots, table games, live betting, and video poker. Voted the best hotel in Reno, the resort provides over 1,900 rooms and suites, a large selection of restaurants, cafés, bars, and lounges, and more than 200,000 square feet of meeting space.

Like many gaming venues, tobacco smoke and odor was a significant issue. Shannan Keel, the General Manager of Grand Sierra Resort and Casino, tapped Plasma Air’s solution to control the smoke and odor. Having successfully used Plasma Air at another property, she knew the system’s bipolar ionization technology could handle a casino of this size. “This new system will raise the level of air quality and guest comfort throughout the resort and we are proud to work with Plasma Air to bring this new technology to the region,” says Keel.

In addition to neutralizing odors, the system reduces:

Through Plasma Air’s Equipment Leasing Program, GSR quickly acquired 120 Plasma Air 50 Series ionizers. The ionizers were installed in the air handlers to provide clean purified air on the gaming floor and throughout the facility. Now, the resort can offer guests an experience that is grand in every way.
